Frankie hi-nrg mc, al secolo Francesco Di Gesù, è una figura cardine del rap italiano. Nato a Torino nel 1969, ha firmato pietre miliari della discografia nazionale come “VERBA MANENT” e “LA MORTE DEI MIRACOLI”, il cui brano cult “QUELLI CHE BENPENSANO” è diventato un vero e proprio inno generazionale, venendo premiato come canzone dell’anno nel 1998.
La sua carriera è stata sempre guidata da una forte indipendenza artistica e da un profondo impegno civile, che lo ha portato a vincere il premio Amnesty International nel 2012 e a partecipare a missioni umanitarie in Africa come fotografo. Dopo la prima esperienza nel 2008, è tornato nel 2014 al 64° Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo con i brani “UN UOMO È VIVO” e “PEDALA”, presentandosi da artista indipendente con la propria etichetta Materie Prime Circolari. Pubblica contestualmente l’album “ESSERE UMANI”.
Artista estremamente eclettico, Frankie negli anni ha saputo spaziare con successo tra diverse arti: si è distinto come regista di videoclip per sé e per colleghi come i Tiromancino, ha pubblicato nel 2019 l’autobiografia “Faccio la mia cosa” per Mondadori, partecipato da giurato a festival del cinema e intrapreso una significativa carriera teatrale, interpretando recentemente Re Erode nell’opera rock “Jesus Christ Superstar”.
Negli ultimi anni ha continuato a innovare anche fuori dalla musica, inaugurando mostre d’arte create con l’intelligenza artificiale. Nel 2026 esce l’album “VOCE e BATTERIA”. Questo ultimo progetto, che vanta collaborazioni con artisti del calibro di Jovanotti, Elisa e Fabri Fibra, lo porterà in un tour nazionale accompagnato dal batterista Donato Stolfi.
